Eugenia Miranda pushes the pen

Eugenia recalls being in the slow reading group in school until sixth grade, when a teacher told her she should be in Honors and gave her writing career the boost it needed. "From then on I was in accelerated and AP Literature classes," says the 23-year-old reporter and Buckhead resident. After graduating from Milton High School in Alpharetta, she went on to the University of Maryland where she majored in Journalism and edited the campus magazine. "Writing is too therapeutic not to partake," says the journaling enthusiast. "It's the best way to get your emotions out and to process things before you react." Eugenia finds delight in the words of writers from the Magical Realism scene and her favorites include Isabel Allende's and Gabriel García Márquez's work. "I'd like to eventually write a book about my family's immigrant experience," says the daughter of Argentinean and Nicaraguan parents. "The thing I love most about writing is being descriptive," she says. "You know you've nailed it when you can see and hear what's happening without pictures."
