she`s so skirt!
Lila Hertz knows there's power in the pink
"There was an example set to give back in my family," says Lila about
her childhood community ties. "Since I was about four, I can remember
bringing Tzedakah (Hebrew for charity) boxes to Sunday School." Now the
breast cancer survivor and Board President of Susan G. Komen in Atlanta
is still giving back to her neighbors. "When I started with Komen in
Atlanta, it was in its very early stages," she says. "Its evolution is
such a source of pride. It's finally running like it should." Besides
managing the successful charity, she also co-chairs the Fashion Cares
event this month and is the key reason the successful fundraiser now
gives proceeds to Komen as well as Atlanta AIDS Partnership Fund. "By
nature I'm very shy," says the soft-spoken introvert. But Lila finds
happiness in the nonprofit world. "The fact that I've learned to speak
and advocate in front of people has challenged me." She also sits on
the board of Piedmont Hospital and Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, knowing
"the best way to feel wonderful is to give back."
