Ever done this before? Make a timeline of your life I mean? I’ve decided I’m taking inventory. Here are some of the big moments:
Age 2: Had to start sharing parent’s attention with brattly little sister.
Age 7: Cause big feminist stink when 3rd grade teacher won’t let me play the scientist in the Monster Mash Halloween play at school because “men are scientists, not women.” Called to principal’s office.
Age 11: Get really good at softball and travel every weekend on Sandy Springs All-Star team. Dad is so proud after all the time practicing he’s invested.
Age 14: Get caught with cigarettes at school. Trying to be cool. I am no James Dean. Nothing cool about it. I still smoke socially to this day.
Age 15: Quit softball for more “sexy and boyfriend-friendly” endeavors, like cheerleading. Sadly, it works.
Age 18: Start college at the University of Georgia. Begin to date boring frat guys that I don’t like and don’t treat me well. Begin to notice all my friends are doing the same thing.
Age 20: Continue dating losers. But get into Journalism school. Yippee!!
Age 23: Bratty little sister moves to Hollywood to make dreams come true.
Age 24: I am inspired by bratty little sister. Shake the dust of my hometown off my boots and move to NYC.
Age 25: Continue to date losers. They’re just Yankees fans now.
Age 26: Try to join softball team for work, and suck. Should’ve kept playing.
Age 27: Read “He’s Just Not That Into You” by Greg Berendt and am transformed!
Age 28: Move back to Atlanta, launch a great magazine for all smart women to enjoy. Shed low expectations for men in my life and finally meet a great guy.
Age 29: Magazine hits successful first year and we begin to change the lives of women in our community.
Age 30: Bratty, but awesome little sister is movie star (www.briannedavis.com). Check out her movie Prom Night with Brittany Snow this month. Realize all our dreams are coming true.

I think you should go to ourstory.com, make a visual timeline based on your post and pull it into your blog. I also thought it would be cool to create a timeline on ourstory.com for a fictional character...based on the bits of my life that I can't actually put on skirt!.

Both your timeline and Jessica's comment gave me an idea: what would a timeline of your relationship with your siblings look like? Mine has been fascinating: I have an older sister (by 8 years) who babysat the rest of us (there are 7 siblings in my family) but largely disappeared when she went off to college, then became an attorney. Now we're pretty close and talk frequently. My younger sister and I were nearly twins during our early years, but grew apart as teenagers with very different styles (she was destined to be a star, like Stephanie's sister, while I was the bookish one). She now anchors the glamorous community of a mid-Atlantic state and owns a couple businesses there. I think it has taken 20 years for me to establish my own identity without considering how they reflect on me, but I also have to give them credit for some of my motivation in life -- I didn't want to be the "sister of" forever.

I'm not gonna post a timeline, 'cause it could never be brief, but congratulations to your lovely sister! I, too, am a cigarette-loving older sibling (who no longer smokes) with (formerly) bad taste in men. My Brother The Surgeon went to Yale Medical School, fellowed at Harvard, wrote a screenplay that was picked up by Ashton Kutcher and is a great dresser. But I, I, made grandchildren, mwahhahahaha!
