Tiger Ladies and Boardroom Betties

Tuesday, February, 5, 2008

I attended the WNBA Atlanta Dream and Uptownscoop.com All Star Awards last week at Tiffany & Co. in Phipps. The awards were honoring women who guide, enhance or advace women in our community.  While having an incredible breakfast at Tiffany’s (wink, wink) I looked around at the name tag brigade and realized the room was filled with top female executives from Coke, Home Depot, GE, UPS, Delta and many other Fortune 500’s that HQ in Atlanta.

Right now I’m working on our “Around the Clock” issue for March which is all about working women. So my brain is definitely geared towards seeking and spotting office warriors. When I saw this room chock-full of Boardroom Betties, it occured to me that thirty or even twenty years ago, you wouldn’t have been able to get a car-full of females execs together, much less a huge store full. All I can say is, we’ve come a long way baby!

Coming from a generation who has greatly benefitted from these women’s hard work and hard headedness, I want to say thanks to the Tiger Ladies who’ve made it to the top of their fields. Where would we be without you?

(PS- Uptownscoop.com is a great biz website for women).

(PPS- Smartsamantha.com is too.)
