I went to lunch with another mother of a super cute boy in my son’s daycare class this week. Besides enjoying it, I got to try a restaurant I had not been to before – Jolie Kobe – delish! It deserves the plug. I will return. Our conversation hit every topic possible that two women with kids can come up with in an hour-something our friends without kids may not understand. It’s fascinating how easy it is to talk to people that you don’t know well, based solely on the fact that you have children in common.
My train of thought however hit a cow on the tracks at the mention of her son not being able to sleep in a pac-n-play anymore. He was already comfortable in a single bed! HOLY CRAP!? My entire world came crashing down upon me. What? I am fairly sure I recall (through a slight blackout) putting my fingers to my ears and emitting an apologetically rude “lalalalalalalalalalalalala” – I didn’t even want to comprehend it. Not so much the fact that her child was far beyond mine in the world of “real” beds, but for the fact that an ending to our travelling sideshow around Atlanta would eventually become more complicated or even worse – END!?
It was hard enough to adjust socially to parenthood upon his entrance into this world. But, we learned to cope. I’d even venture to say we championed staying mobile with our baby routine. In fact, we are STILL on tour today. If we don’t have a sitter – the boy comes with us to whomever’s house will host him. He easily lulls to sleep in the pac-n-play and rarely makes a peep until it is time for us to head home. It is a part of his (and more importantly, our) routine that helps to keep our social calendar alive – and gets all of us out of the house.
I don’t even want to think about the next sleeping phase. Honestly, I’m not ready. I have already forgotten the anguishing effort it took to get to the phase we are in now. Would it be incredibly unrealistic to consider the boy sleeping in a pac-n-play until he is twelve? It’s doable, right?
Allright. Darn it. I guess it’s time to start looking for a regular sitter.

Happy Valentines Day!
Your Dad told me about Steph's magazine and your contributions back on his birthday, and just this afternoon have I gone to Skirt Mag. Atlanta and I haven't been able to leave! I love your style of writing and I can't wait to read more! I read all of your blogs and they are very entertaining! And, had I been at the park with the"cute" little girl walking up the slide, I would have removed her just like Mrs. S. would have.
I also saw Steph and Tim on TV through the link in Stephs blog. How exciting!!!!!!! I feel so technical - believe me, I'm not!!!! I've never read a blog before - and I'm not sure about the word "blog", but I have surely been entertained!
Hope everyone is doing well. I looked for your email address and couldn't find it - of course. So, I tried my luck at registering at Skirt - and here I am!!!!!
Warren told me last Sunday that he is cooking barbeque this year for the 4th. Alan and Kathryn are baptizeing Maggie on Sunday, July 6th. I called Bubba yesterday to let him know that about the barbeque and the baptism and he said it sounded good! Sure hope everyone can come!!!!!!!
Will close for now in hopes that Mumsy-K gets this email.
Please let me know!
Love,
auntsuzanne
