I'm not one to gush, but Andy Roddick is hot! And at Sunday's Advanta TeamTennis Smash Hits event at Kennesaw State, I got to stand about 10 feet from him. Granted it was for a good cause—Elton John's Aids Foundation—so I could feel good about ogling him. (Elton was ogling him quite a bit also, BTW. See below.)

Below is the cougar who was standing in front of me during the live auction, that bid $15,000 for an hour tennis lesson with Andy (he promised to play in his skivvies) that morning. Talk about female buying power, ladies!
That’s my friend Alison’s forehead behind her. I’m hidden under her raised arm. I’m almost famous!
Anyway, while Andy was the resident hottie, there were some pretty big powerhouse women that overshadowed him. Namely Billie Jean King. Who is a huge hero of mine. Having worked at Self Magazine for years, where my boss had the tennis racket Billie used to beat Bobby Riggs, I became one of the legions of her worshipers.
Billie and Elton recruited tennis phenoms Martina Navratilova and Anna Kournikova as well for the fundraiser. Martina played Marietta, GA native Melanie Oudin (ranked #2 in the world currently). Oudin actually beat the legend! Incredible. I HAVE to get her for Girl Power next month, right readers? She’d be perfect!
It was an exciting Sunday afternoon and all for a great cause. The live auction climbed over the $100,000 mark. All of the money will stay in the South, which is great news since 46% of AIDS cases are being reported right here. Can you believe that? If you’d like to donate time or money go to Elton’s website: ejaf.org
