Not so Lucky after all

Thursday, November, 29, 2007

As I sit here cranking out the January issue of skirt! (it's The Lady Luck issue and is all about bad situations working out for the better; situations of luck or unluckiness; creating your own luck; good luck charms; luck changing, not believing in luck, why you believe in luck, fortune, fate, superstition, coincidences, etc.) I come across this clip online:

Lottery winner not so lucky

It seems some very lucky guy won a $1 million scratch off lottery ticket in Massachusetts. Unluckily, he was a convicted bank robber and not supposed to gamble as part of his probation. Now, they have to decide in court if he gets to keep the money or not.

Can you imagine?! Karma really is a bitch, isn't it? Once you finally hit legitimate paydirt, the court takes it away from you. Wow. I’ll be thinking about that poor sap as I write my Lady Luck essay over the weekend.

Hey Stephanie, Loved your Middle School Nightmare blog, but it wouldn't let me comment. I have 6th grade son now (well, he's 12 going on 20) and I am always warning him about the drama of girls. Actually, it's the same warning every time: "Stay Far Far Away." But as we all know, drama is so hard to resist, so I guess he'll have to learn the hard way. He may indeed have the worry gene someday. But I LOVED your Karma comment on the lottery winner. I'm sure some smart attorney will find a way to take about half of those winnings off his hands, huh? And then he can write a best-seller, sell the movie rights ... there is some of that criminal karma, too. Look forward to reading more of you! PS: I write Word-of-Mom blogs on http://www.connectwithkids.com/blogs/stacey/ AND http://www.gnmparents.com/?s=spin+the+bottle Would love your thoughts, too.
