Wendy, Geoff and Katie Melkonian are an Atlanta sister-brother-wife bread making team. Two years ago on Thanksgiving, Wendy mentioned to her brother and sister-in-law that the restaurant she worked at would sell her pumpkin bread. That night they began making loaves like mad. They worked all weekend and by Monday, Breadwinner was born.

Their side project morphed into a burgeoning biz. They went from a tiny kitchen with a double oven to opening a bakery, a Sandy Springs storefront and an online store. Witty bread names like Frankly, My Dear, I Don’t Give a Cran, and Party at my Place Pumpkin have landed them on The Food Network and The Today Show. But this family was tight pre-Breadwinner’s inception. Wendy and Katie met in college as sorority sisters long before they were sisters-in-law.

Today, Katie and Wendy’s brother Geoff have been married for ten years. “Breadwinner is a family affair,” says Geoff. “Even my mom comes in at least once a day.”
