Ashley Baber

Occupation: Owner + Principle Wedding Planner at Ashley Baber Weddings, LLC {www.ashleybaberweddings.com}

I live in: Atlanta

My work: designing, planning and coordinating weddings of all styles and sizes in Atlanta, Virginia, throughout the Southeast + beyond.

My favorite possession: A ring I had made from diamonds and rubies that were in various jewelry pieces that belonged to my Grandmother.

My hometown: I grew up in a small town in Western Maryland.

Words I live by: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” -Aristotle and “What goes around comes around.”

I can’t live without: My husband, three pugs, e-mail, manis/pedis, traveling and red wine.

I am most proud of: Working hard to achieve my goals- all of my life- despite adversity.

I’m inspired by: Love. All things vintage. Fresh flowers. Traveling. Entrepreneurs.

What keeps me awake at night: Lots and lots of wedding details, my never ending to do list, and what’s next- how to keep growing my business.

One thing I never want to do again: Be naive.

My passion: Facilitating an important part of a love story that will last for generations to come.

I am guilty of: Obsessing over what other people think about me.

Right now I’m reading: “The E-Myth Revisted” by Michael E. Gerber

The one item that has changed my life: My GPS. I am one of the most directionally challenged people you will ever meet.

Favorite website: Twitter.com

My theme song: Live Your Life” T.I. featuring Rihanna

The food I could eat every day: Margaritas/Chips/Queso/Guac

The food I never want to eat again: Raw Oysters

If I were a superheroine, I would be: Gaia (Captain Planet).

The best thing I ever won: the respect of people I admire.

My best friend says I am: Well, I asked my BFF of 17 years and here is what she said: thoughtful, committed, trustworthy, caring, enthusiastic, hard-working, confident, sensitive, smart, gorgeous and generous.

I still can’t get the hang of: driving a stick shift.

I wish I’d known: your first love and your soul mate aren’t always one in the same.

The world would be a better place, if only: everyone recycled and no one gossiped!

I’d like to learn to: speak fluent Spanish.

Something most people don’t know about me: I have a degree in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology and a minor in Philosophy from the University of Colorado (Boulder). Also, most people (even some of my family members!) don’t know that my husband and I eloped. His parents pressured us to get married before we moved across the country together. We had a full wedding and reception 9 months later.

The worst idea I’ve ever had: trying to get a tan every summer for years. Instead I would get a severe sunburn. Every summer. For years.

My first job: I was a cashier at McDonald’s when I was 15.

What are you most vain about? I am told I have great eyes and cute dimples…

What do you fear the most? Losing people I love.

Early bird or night owl?: A Night Owl that has started faking it as an Early Bird.

I feel strongest when: I am surrounded by my family and friends.

When I grow up, I want to be: a leader and mentor in my industry. A great Mother. A philanthropist. Still madly in love with my husband.

At the end of a long day, the first thing I want to do is: Change into pajamas, kiss the hubs, hug the pugs and dive into a glass of great red wine.

Always... keep calm and carry on.

Never... underestimate yourself or give up. Ever.
